Greetings all,

a couple of quick updates for you…

  • The first round of the Interclub supersprint series is open. Register here A copy of the Sup Regs can be found here
  • Round 4 of the Interclub Supersprint series has been updated. The correct date is Sat Sept 12. Entries are expected to open Jun 8.
  • The first Motorkana event, brought to you by the FIAT Car club has been moved to March 1. Details will be posted here when available. This event is part of the president series.
  • Interclub Number Allocations – its Time for us to clean up and refresh the Interclub number assignments. There are a number of allocated numbers no longer being used and due to the way the system has been working, a few people have more than one number. In the coming weeks Interclub participates will receive an email notification regarding the assignment of numbers. It will have all the detail, but in summary, you’ll have the first right to retain any number already allocated to you and others will have the opportunity to grab any numbers no longer wanted or used. The is expected to be sent you after the first supersprint event in Feb, so stay tuned.
  • It’s being noted a few people are having trouble finding their favourite events. Don’t forget you can use the ‘keyword’ search at the top of the events page to find what you want. Example: here I’m looking for ‘president’ to find the president series events.

If you have any queries or concerns, don’t hesitate to reach out.

Sports Committee Update:

The curtain has fallen on another year of Interclub supersprint events with competitors and organising bodies sharing in mixed successes. 2019 saw the introduction of Pheasant Wood Circuit into the event calendar and the feedback was mixed, with many saying they were not comfortable with the track during the first event but loved it after the second. For those that attended the track, I’m sure you’ll agree that this is a great facility and one that has big plans for the future. We were fortunate to have predominantly good weather for all the events in 2019 and we are pleased that our attendance numbers have remained around the same for the last two years.

The motoring event calendars in 2018-2019 saw a plethora of events for drivers to attend. This is fantastic for the sport, a challenge at times when choosing what to run in, especially if events are close together. This too proving to be tough for organisers competing for your entry dollars. With the uptick in events, track demand and running costs increase and these are reflected in the hire charge.

These factors and increasing financial pressure on all the clubs to run events means the Interclub will see only five events held in 2020, rather than the normal seven. The decision to reduce the number of events is to ensure we can maintain reasonable entry costs for our competitors and ensure the category remains sustainable. We unfortunately will not see a GP event in the calendar next year and only one Wakefield and Pheasant Wood event.

Though we are disappointed at the event number reduction, this is normal as the sport grows and contracts and depending on the success of 2020, we hope to return to seven events in 2021.

This is probably a good time to remind everyone your club can’t be successful without you and your feedback. So don’t hesitate to reach out and tell us what you like, what you don’t like. And if you have ideas on how to improve our events we’d love to hear them.

As Southern Sporting plans our 2020 events calendar, our focus will be on keeping costs contained. Interclub Supersprint events spaced as evenly apart as we can and we’ll do our best not to clash with other popular events our members like to attend.

We wish you a safe and merry festive season and we look forwarding to seeing you in 2020.
